Crossover’s hiring audience changed. Nothing else did.

They'd spent a decade recruiting remote contractors in tech across 130 countries.

Now a school was 60% of their hiring. In person. In the US.

Every page in the candidate journey spoke to the old audience. And the only video helping them tell that story was shot on an iPhone by the VP of marketing.

Meanwhile, people inside the company kept asking why they couldn't just use AI to make videos. Generate a happy employee, have her say she loves her job, ship it Tuesday.

Nobody’s ever been convinced by that.

So we tracked down eight real employees and asked them what their jobs are really like.

Real candidates with real stories.

Then we built a library out of that.

How we made the series

Their VP of marketing came to us with five messaging pillars worked out. Our job was to find out which employees could carry which pillars and how.

It started with a survey of a couple dozen story candidates. Then half an hour each with the shortlist. Ultimately, we had eight heroes we could build a library with. And the insights to know which subjects we’d capture on location and which we’d remotely interview.

From there, tight story planning and creative post-production resulted in the library we delivered for less than the price of one commercial.

I gave THEM hardly any notes. I WAS confident the morning of the shoot knowing that it would be okay.

and it was.
